Ms. Kinder Shamhart

At its meeting on January 20, the Bartlesville Board of Education appointed Kinder Shamhart as the member for District 5, which covers parts of the Hoover Elementary and Ranch Heights Elementary areas. Until the next election in 2022, Ms. Shamhart will hold the seat vacated by Tyler Vaclaw, whose family is remaining in Bartlesville but moving out of District 5.

Ms. Shamhart and her husband, Andrew, have two children who attend classes in the district. She has been a local attorney in private practice since 2011, serving before that in a district attorney’s office in Farmington, New Mexico. Before entering law school in 2006, she was employed as a substitute teacher, filling in for teachers in most of the schools across the district.

Kinder is currently a board member for the Splash Club, serves on the City of Bartlesville Board of Adjustment, and is a member of the Ranch Heights Parent Teacher Organization, Washington County Foster Family Association, Oklahoma and Washington County Bar Associations, and was a member of Class XXVIII of the Leadership Bartlesville program.

The board is excited to have another active young member of the community representing District 5, bringing her perspective and expertise to the Board of Education.
